Everyone wants to be in Florida in February! So plan to stay awhile. We'll entice you with these options:
Sunday afternoon 2:30-5 pm - “A Winter White English Dance” with the Gainesville English Country Dancers. If you're not an English Country Dancer, it’s time you experienced the elegance of this "first-cousin" of contra.
Sunday evening 6 - 8:30 pm - "A Black Light Affair" techno contra with DJ Chad "Big Daddy" Young and caller Dana Parkinson at the Rion Ballroom, UF Campus. Ever done it in the dark? Wrap yourself in glow-in-the-dark bangles and dance to the techno beat.
Both dances $10, $5 for students and under 21. Pay at the door.
North Central Florida has some of the most beautiful springs in the world. Come kayak, snorkel or dive in crystal clear 72 degree water. Birding is amazing on Paynes Prairie (not to mention GATORS!). There are several lovely parks for camping, hiking and napping. And yes, "the Mouse" (Disney World) is a short drive south of us.
